In the historically rich Lower East Side, a new condominium is rising at the east side of Bowery and Spring Street.
Construction on the 16-story project, which was developed by Bowery Boys LLC and designed by architect Keith Strand, began in December 2003. To create a fusion of original and contemporary styles, the façade of the pre-existing four-story building was maintained, and the additional floors have a black-brick exterior on the north and south exposures, mixed with a glass-and-steel exterior on the east and west exposures. The first four floors of the building are designated for commercial. The remaining floors will consist of half- and full-floor residences ranging from 1,100 to 2,400 square feet of loft space each.
