Installation of an ADA-compliant elevator kicked off in early 2006 at the Bowling Green subway station. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) built the new elevator as its own kiosk, making the station more accessible to people with disabilities. The elevator kiosk is located just west of the escalator/stairway entrance in front of the National Museum of the American Indian, and with it came a new canopy over the station's escalator/stairway entrance.
Construction wrapped up in mid-June 2007.
