As part of its plan to improve and update downtown’s infrastructure, the city Department of Design and Construction (DDC) launched the capital reconstruction of Liberty Street in summer 2008. The work took place on Liberty Street (Nassau to Gold) extending the Liberty Street road reconstruction that was completed in 2007 west of Nassau.
The contract also included Maiden Lane from William to Water Streets; Louise Nevelson Plaza at William and Liberty Streets; and Pearl Street from Fulton to John Streets.
For this Liberty Street project, city crews will excavate, update utilities, and restore the roadway. Together with the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center, the DDC also will host periodic community stakeholder meetings.
