Working together, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Department of Design and Construction (DDC), and Department of Transportation have successfully reconstructed Old Slip's park and surrounding streets. Work, most of which wrapped up in late 2004 and spring 2005, including updating utilities, resurfacing the street and sidewalk, and replanting the park.
Road reconstruction work was completed in May 2005
Spring plantings were completed in June 2005

Lower Manhattanites will soon have a new green space to relax in at Old Slip, just west of the New York City Police Museum, whose design was inspired by the style of a police badge. The park will serve as a civic gathering place complete with granite curbs, decorative benches, and new plantings, as well as new lighting at the entrance to the Police Museum.
