The City of New York expanded its search for potential remains of 9/11 victims near the World Trade Center (WTC) site. On Monday, April 9th, 2007, the search began in the autoramps that once connected West Street to the World Trade Center parking garage.
The project required the closure of one northbound lane of West Street (Route 9A) from Liberty to Vesey Streets, allowing investigators to excavate and search infrastructure. The lane reduction was coordinated by the New York City Department of Transportation (CDOT) and concluded in late April 2007.
