Battery Park Underpass Weeknight Lane Closures

Lane closures are planned for the Battery Park Underpass in mid-June. The eastbound tube (from the FDR Drive to West Street) will be closed Monday and Tuesday, June 17th and 18th, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Following that work, the westbound tube (from West Street to the FDR Drive) will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, June 19th and 20th, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

York Street and St. Johns Lane Weekday Closures

Full closures on both York Street (Sixth Avenue to St. Johns Lane) and St. Johns Lane (Laight to Beach) in north Tribeca, will be in effect June 17th through 21st, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The closures allow contractor Foundations Group to perform facade repairs and concrete work at 50 Varick Street. Detour signs will be posted to help redirect traffic and pedestrian traffic will be maintained.

56 Leonard Street Roadway Closures

Crews are performing sewer and water tie-ins at 56 Leonard St. Full weeknight closures are necessary on Leonard Street between Church and West Broadway, from June 14 to 28, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Westbound motorists will be detoured to White Street, two blocks north. In addition, a daytime closure on Leonard Street is planned for June 24th outside the site for concrete delivery.

Rector Street Weeknight Closures at 99 Washington

With heavy construction now complete at the new 99 Washington Street Holiday Inn tower, crews are now completing facade and utility tie-ins. To complete water and sewer work, Rector Street will be closed between West and Greenwich on weeknights, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting May 20th through approximately June 20th.

Weekend Closures for Crane Lift at 377 Greenwich
|

This weekend, a crane lift will bring road closures outside 377 Greenwich Street in Tribeca. Greenwich Street between Franklin and N. Moore Streets will be closed June 22nd and 23rd, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Motorists will be detoured to southbound West Street and eastbound Chambers Street.

Brooklyn Bridge Westbound Lanes and Ramp Night Closures

Overnight closures of the Brooklyn Bridge Manhattan-bound roadway are in effect through 2013, allowing crews to continue rehabilitation work. The city DOT will maintain Brooklyn-bound traffic. Closings are scheduled during off-peak overnight hours, and the bridge will fully re-open to traffic each morning. Closure hours are: Sundays to Fridays 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.; Saturdays 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m.; and Sundays 12:01 a.m. to 9 a.m.

All N, Q, R Stations in Manhattan to Close for Overnight Fastrack Work, June 17-21 |

On Monday, June 17, New York City Transit brings FASTRACK back to Manhattan on the N, Q and R Broadway Line. There will be no service at N, Q, R stations in Manhattan from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., for four consecutive weeknights from Monday, June 17 to early Friday morning, June 21. N trains will operate in Queens and Brooklyn only. Q trains will be rerouted via the D line in Manhattan from the 57th Street F station. R service ends early in Manhattan and Queens each night.

New Meets Old at Fulton Center |

Chambers Street is reduced to one-way westbound traffic between Greenwich and Broadway, rerouting eastbound M22 buses to Warren Street. The westbound M22 bus stops are located outside of the work zone.

Air Monitors Added to Local Environmental Network |

State and city officials this week added three more air-monitoring units in the New York City neighborhoods hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy.The monitors will measure fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) to provide data on the potential impact Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts have had on air quality.

Keeping Track of Environmental Quality |

With long-term rebuilding still underway, downtown environmental quality remains a priority. To help address local noise and air quality is the LMCCC and its environmental monitoring team. LowerManhattan.info joined Badar Usmani for one of his mobile air- and noise-monitoring walks to get a better sense of how his work supports quality of life during rebuilding.

LMCCC Air Monitoring Program |

The LMCCC has implemented an air quality monitoring program to monitor the cumulative impact of all Lower Manhattan construction projects. The LMCCC is conducting daily air monitoring at the following sites throughout Lower Manhattan: 292 Greenwich Street, 80 Catherine Street, 1 World Financial Center and 154 Nassau Street.

This month, the Mayors Office released the city After-Action report for Hurricane Sandy, a comprehensive review local preparedness measures and recovery operations before, during, and after the storm.

Final 1 WTC Spire Pieces Ascend to Roof |
| |
The last of 18 sections of the 1 World Trade Center steel spire today were lifted more than 140 stories high, onto the tower roof. The two final pieces will be affixed this week, completing the 408-foot-tall antenna and bring the total building height to 1,776 feet.
