Community Relations Printer Friendly Version

« back

The community relations department has responsibility for all public outreach to the Lower Manhattan community including residents, businesses, community groups, government agencies, and elected officials regarding Lower Manhattan construction.

As the reconstruction and revitalization of Lower Manhattan move forward, it is imperative that all stakeholders, as well as the general public, be informed about the progress of the work taking place in and around their neighborhoods.

In order to facilitate public awareness, the community relations department both leads and participates in community meetings and events in order to provide information regarding construction projects and their impact. The department is responsible for responding to constituent concerns, complaints, and requests for support and information from individual stakeholders or stakeholder groups. The director makes regular appearances before civic and business groups and maintains close relationships with elected officials and government agencies.

The community relations department is the main point of contact for concerns regarding the impact of construction projects in Lower Manhattan south of Canal Street. The department works closely with community relations and communications counterparts from the business and non-business sectors.
