The decontamination of 130 Cedar Street concluded in early June, with crews now turning their attention to partial deconstruction inside the 12-story building. The deconstruction, led by contractor Laval Construction, follows more than seven months of remediation. Crews will now strip the interior to its steel beams and reinforced-concrete frame and prepare for the construction process to begin later in 2008. Seven new floors will be added to the former office building, which will be converted to a hotel to open in early 2010.
