The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation has received results of air testing for hazardous metals in the aftermath of the August 18, 2007 fire at 130 Liberty Street.
The air monitoring encompassed testing for seven metals, including antimony, barium, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, manganese, mercury, nickel and zinc. All results came back normal.
LMDC has also conducted over 360 tests for asbestos, all of which have been negative. Tests for particulate matter have also come back normal.
All of this testing - for metals, organics, asbestos, and particulate matter - is ongoing with samples taken before, during and after the fire.
At the time of the fire, deconstruction work was at the 26th floor, and decontamination work was well over halfway down the former 40-story building. Since the fire, all deconstruction work has been suspended.
