130 Liberty Progress Continues with Double Shifts

Deconstruction work is now on floors 19 and 18
Deconstruction work is now on floors 19 and 18

The deconstruction of 130 Liberty Street is now on floors 19 and 18, and continues to move downward. To help compensate for workdays lost due to inclement weather this winter, contractor Bovis Lend Lease is now permitted by the city Department of Buildings for two work shifts daily, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and from 3:30 p.m. to midnight. Under the new permits, all deconstruction activities are allowed to continue until sundown, when all crane operations will cease for the day. For the evening shift, crews are permitted to dismantle steel pieces, which does not require a crane, and load them into containers for removal during permitted hours.

Outside 130 Liberty Street, this week the contractor is erecting a shed over the south sidewalk Albany Street between Washington and Greenwich. The shed will remain in place through the tower’s full deconstruction, through the end of the year.
