9/11 Construction Embargo Planned

Some areas will be allowed to continue work until September 10

The annual construction embargo for September 11th is planned to begin Sunday, September 5th at 12:01 a.m., and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, September 11th. The city Department of Transportation (DOT) implements the embargo each year, suspending work on projects around the World Trade Center site for September 11th memorial events. The area affected includes these locations:

  • Areas bound by Chambers Street, Battery Place, Broadway, and West Street
  • Washington Street from Liberty Street to Battery Place
  • Church Street/Trinity Place from Reade Street to Morris Street
  • Morris Street from West Street to Washington Street
  • State Street from Battery Place to Whitehall Street
  • Liberty Street from Broadway to Nassau Street
  • Cedar Street from Broadway to Nassau Street
  • Pine Street from Broadway to Nassau Street
  • Nassau Street from Liberty Street to Pine Street

Some work will be permitted behind barriers within the embargoed areas until 6 p.m. on Thursday September 10th. Emergency work will be permitted with DOT approval.
