The WTC Memorial will host the 9-11 ceremony for the second year in a row

The ceremony commemorating the 11th anniversary of the September 11th attacks is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11th, from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m., with visitors arriving around 7 a.m. The memorial service will take place within the World Trade Center (WTC) site, and the city has already implemented a construction embargo for the immediate area.

Additionally, more street closures and parking restrictions will be in effect.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS - The following streets will not have access to parking:

  • Liberty and Cedar Streets between Broadway and Greenwich Street
  • Greenwich Street between Liberty and Edgar Streets
  • Albany and Carlisle Streets between West and Greenwich Streets
  • Trinity Place between Liberty and Cedar Streets
  • Vesey, Fulton, Dey, Cortlandt, Liberty, and Cedar Streets between Church Street and Broadway

STREET CLOSURES - The following streets will be closed to traffic from 12:01 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.; pedestrian access will be very limited:

  • Liberty, Cedar, and Thames Streets between Greenwich Street and Trinity Place
  • Greenwich Street between Liberty and Carlisle Streets

West Street will remain open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. However, trucks will not be permitted northbound on West Street from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Vesey Street. Trucks will be diverted from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Trinity Place/Church Street to travel north. Church Street/Trinity Place and Broadway also will remain open.

The Liberty Street pedestrian bridge will be closed from 7 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11th. To cross West Street, pedestrians will be directed north to cross at the Vesey Street pedestrian bridge, or south to cross at Albany Street.

Subway service and entrances also will likely be affected by annual 9/11 events. Check for the latest New York City Transit (NYCT) updates at www.mta.info, under "Planned Service Changes" for travel information. Visitors also can sign up for free email and text message alerts.
