Beach Street Cobblestone Work Reduces Lanes

Cobblestone restoration starts on Beach Street on June 4th
Cobblestone restoration starts on Beach Street on June 4th

As the Hudson Street Trunk Main project continues to wrap up Phase II work, on Monday, June 4th city Department of Design and Construction crews will begin final cobblestone roadway restoration on Beach Street, between Hudson and Greenwich. Crews will begin on the south side of the street inside a protected work zone, working east to west. One westbound traffic lane will be maintained, and parking will be temporarily removed. The first half of the cobblestone roadway work will take about one month (weather permitting), after which crews will spend another month restoring the north half of the roadway. The newly restored Beach Street should reopen by approximately mid-to-late August 2012.

Questions about the project can be addressed to the projects Community Liaison Jamie Corssen at (212) 226-1380 or hudsonstprojectccl@gmail.com.
