Beekman Street Closure Begins Near Seaport

This work is part of the Peck Slip reconstruction project
This work is part of the Peck Slip reconstruction project

The city’s capital reconstruction of Peck Slip began this month, and as part of the project crews are beginning infrastructure work on Beekman Street. In order to excavate, replace utilities, and rebuild the street, Beekman Street will be closed from Front to South Streets starting Monday, August 22nd through approximately spring 2012. The work includes installation of new sewers, water main, telecommunications, gas, and other utilities, as well as rebuilding curb, sidewalks, and a cobblestone roadway.

The Department of Design and Construction is working with local businesses and residents to maintain deliveries and pickups, and ensure a safe maintenance and protection of traffic. Parking will be eliminated on Beekman from Front to South, and pedestrian walkways will be maintained.

Questions about the project can be addressed to the project’s Community Liaison Amelia Ramos at (212) 233-7184 or peckslipccl@gmail.com.
