The pedestrian arcade between Murray and Vesey Streets will be used
|
Heavy road reconstruction along West Street and at the foot of the new Goldman Sachs tower is requiring temporary detours for bicyclists in Battery Park City this summer. The traffic changes are being coordinated with state Department of Transportation, Battery Park City Authority, and Goldman Sachs contractors.
Starting approximately Monday, June 8th, the West Street bikeway will be diverted from Chambers to Liberty Street via the BPC esplanade for approximately two weeks. Then, on Monday, June 22nd, the bikeway will be temporarily re-routed through the pedestrian arcade between Murray and Vesey Streets (on the west side of the Goldman building) through early September.
In September 2009, the bikeway will again be diverted to the BPC esplanade between Chambers and Liberty Streets for approximately one month. Pedestrians also will be relocated from West Street through the Goldman arcade from June 8th through mid-October 2009.
Signs and traffic agents will be posted to help with the temporary patterns. Additional West Street traffic diversions and timelines are posted at the Promenade South segment 2 project update.
