Emergency road work is required
|
This winter’s harsh weather has taken its toll on city streets, and the city Department of Transportation is now hard at work repairing roadway potholes that result from moisture and temperature fluctuations. On the Brooklyn Bridge, crews are performing emergency resurfacing work on ramps and approaches that involves milling, asphalt repaving, and repainting the pavement. The work requires full roadway closures as follows:
- Saturday 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m.
- Sunday 12:01 a.m. to 9:59 a.m.
- Monday 12:01 a.m. to 5:59 a.m.
During this work, all Manhattan-bound traffic will be detoured to other crossings (Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, and Brooklyn Battery Tunnel). The Brooklyn-bound “contra-flow” operation will be in effect, and all Brooklyn-bound traffic will travel on the northern bridge roadway. On the FDR Drive and the BQE, the closures will begin 30 to 60 minutes prior to allow work crews to set up the contra-flow plan. Click here to view additional details on the city DOT website. Questions about the Brooklyn Bridge project may be directed to Community Liaison Sabrina Lau at (347) 647-0876 or brooklynbridgeoutreach@gmail.com.
