Exit 2 closures will continue with advance notification through the end of the year
|
As rehabilitation work proceeds on the Brooklyn Bridge, city crews are now repairing sections of the FDR Drive ramps. To perform roadway replacement, Exit 2 on the northbound FDR Drive onto the Brooklyn-bound approach roadway of the Brooklyn Bridge (and Pearl Street) will be closed on weekends through August 2011, from Friday at 11 p.m. through Monday at 6 a.m. During the closures, drivers heading to Brooklyn from the northbound FDR Drive are advised to take Exit 1 to South Street, then left onto Old Slip, and right onto Water Street to access the Brooklyn Bridge at the Pearl Street entrance. These closures will continue with advance notification through the end of the year.
In April 2011, overnight closures also began on the ramp from eastbound Robert F. Wagner Sr. Place onto the southbound FDR Drive. They are planned to continue through the end of 2011, excluding planned special events, and inclement weather.
Overnight closures of the westbound Brooklyn Bridge lanes also are in place to facilitate roadway and other repairs. During those closures, Manhattan-bound traffic will be diverted to the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel; while Brooklyn-bound traffic will travel across the typically westbound lanes. Nightly closure hours are:
- Mondays to Fridays 11:00* p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Saturdays 12:01* a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Sundays 12:01* a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
(*NOTE: Closures begin earlier on the BQE and FDR Drive.)
