Overnight westbound-traffic closures are back in effect
|
The city Department of Transportation is resuming its long-term rehabilitation of the Brooklyn Bridge, which was largely on hiatus during the past several weeks of Hurricane Sandy downtown emergency relief work. This week, overnight detours resumed, diverting Manhattan-bound traffic from the bridge for crews to perform roadway-resurfacing and other work.
Westbound-traffic detours remain as follows:
-
Sunday to Friday, 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
-
Saturday, 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m.
-
Sunday, 12:01 a.m. to 9 a.m.
(Note: To allow traffic to clear before the reversal begins, the FDR Drive exits close one hour earlier, theBQE exit closes 30 minutes earlier, and all other Brooklyn ramps shut down 5-15 minutes earlier.)
The city DOT will maintain Brooklyn-bound traffic. Manhattan-bound motorists are encouraged to consider using the Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, or the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel (a tolled facility).
The next full-weekend westbound closure on the Brooklyn Bridge is expected to take place in January; exact details will be posted on LowerManhattan.info upon announcement.
