Chambers Street Utility Work Brings Closures

Con Edison work is active in several areas of Chambers Street
Con Edison work is active in several areas of Chambers Street

The city's Chambers Street capital reconstruction project continues, and this week crews are completing work on a gas main between West Broadway and Church Street. Con Edison crews will work overnight on that block, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., though one lane of traffic will be maintained. But a closure will be necessary on Saturday night, December 8th, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to Reade Street, one block north of Chambers. Pedestrian walkways on Chambers will be maintained.

The gas work on that block ties into service already in place between Greenwich and West Broadway. Additional Con Edison utility work is taking place eastward to Broadway, with westbound traffic maintained in one lane.
