Chambers to Be One-Way from Church to W. Broadway

During the traffic change, vehicles and the M22 bus will be detoured to eastbound Warren Street

Starting Monday, September 26, 2011, Chambers Street between West Broadway and Church will be made one-way westbound for approximately 18 months. The change is to extend eastward the capital reconstruction and water-main replacement work that is now active from Greenwich to West Broadway. With vehicular traffic reduced, city Department of Design and Construction crews will be able to excavate and work in one half of the roadway at a time. Additional work is taking place along West Broadway on both sides of Chambers Street.

During the traffic change, vehicles and the M22 bus will be detoured to eastbound Warren Street. Pedestrian access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times, and trash collection will be coordinated as needed. Traffic Enforcement Agents will be posted to manage traffic flow.

The Chambers Street Reconstruction project’s community liaison Marsha Sbordone is available to answer questions at (646) 380-5172 and chambersstccl@gmail.com, and brochures, signs, public meetings, and temporary utility-shutdown announcements are available to those who subscribe to email updates.
