City-Issued Emergency Permits

From time to time, LowerManhattan.info will post emergency permit details for work south of Canal Street. These permits are issued to contractors by the New York City Department of Transportation as needed, and are not necessarily associated with any particular public or private project. Contractors typically obtain such emergency permits for utility maintenance, as well as for repairs to ensure public safety and prevent service interruptions. Contractors working under emergency permits are required to work around the clock until the emergency condition is resolved, at which point the emergency permit expires.
