Work to repair and remove debris on scaffolds begins
|
After receiving clearance from safety and environmental regulators, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) has directed Bovis Lend Lease, its general contractor, to begin repairing and removing debris on scaffolds at 130 Liberty Street.
This work will began Thursday, August 23rd at 7 a.m. on the south side of the building, encompassing floors 20 through 26. It is expected to conclude within the next several days.
This work has been approved by a variety of regulatory agencies, including the federal Environmental Protection Agency and Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the state Department of Labor, and the city Department of Environmental Protectionand Department of Buildings.
The LMDC asks that residents with windows facing 130 Liberty Street keep them closed until the work is completed and the building is made safer. The agency will notify residents when the work is completed.
Regulators will monitor the work as it proceeds, as will the Fire Department and Office of Emergency Management.
