Canyon of Heros Parade scheduled for Friday
|
A special construction embargo is in effect for the 2009 New York Yankees Victory Parade. Beginning 12:01AM to 6PM on November 6, 2009, only emergency work may be performed. Any permits issued prior to the date of this notice for work on the day and locations noted below are hereby voided during that time frame. The date of the embargo is November 6, 12:01 AM to 6:00 PM. The roadways in Manhattan affected by the embargo are as follows:
Area bounded by Canal Street on the North; Battery Place/State Street/South Street on the South; Centre Street/Nassau Street/Broad Street on the east; West Street (9A) on the west; all inclusive,
Battery Place from State Street to West Thames Street,
West Thames Street/Third Place/Second Place/First Place from West Street (9A) to Dead End.
The sidewalks lining Friday’s ticker-tape parade up the Canyon of Heroes along Broadway from the Battery to City Hall are open to all members of the public, and the City will set up a large screen near City Hall Park for members of the public to watch the subsequent ceremony. There is very limited space on City Hall plaza for the ceremony itself. The City will make a limited number of tickets available to the public. Information about how tickets will be distributed will be released on Thursday, November 5th.
There have been reports in the past of fraudulent offers for tickets to the parade – including access to floats – and to the ceremony. There are no tickets or passes to any portion of the parade, and any such offers are fake. Ceremony tickets are not for resale. If you are aware of any tickets or passes being sold, please call 311.
