Final Segment of Work Begins on Beekman

Beekman Street reconstruction, Dec. 2009
Beekman Street reconstruction, Dec. 2009

This week, the city closed the half-block of Beekman Street between Park Row and Theatre Alley for capital reconstruction. The work includes installation of a new water main and other utilities, rebuilding of curbs and sidewalks, and road repaving -- all slated for completion approximately April 2010.

The work is the final segment of reconstruction that began on Beekman in late 2007, and is now currently wrapping up between William and Gold Streets. Related work also continues on Park Place, where crews will install the concrete road base west of Broadway through the end of the year. Final asphalt paving on both Park Place and Beekman Street will complete the project in spring 2010, when temperatures begin to rise.
