Five More Floors Gone from 130 Liberty Building

Deconstruction of the 130 Liberty Street tower is making headway, with crews nearly halfway done demolishing the 22nd floor. Since mid-November, when the demolition resumed, five floors have been removed. Strong winds and other inclement weather has delayed the schedule somewhat this winter, with crews only working when conditions are safe.

However with work steadily progressing, contractor Bovis Lend Lease anticipates 130 Liberty deconstruction will be complete by the end of 2010. Crews already are installing scaffolding protection on the 18th and the 19th floors to prepare for their deconstruction. Meanwhile, on January 16th the tower crane was lowered from the 27th to the 24th floor, and on January 17th the hoist for the tower crane was lowered from the 19th to the 17th floor.
