The building boom continues in Lower Manhattan, with three new projects now getting started. In the Lower East Side, a new seven-story residential building is going up at 2 Allen Street, at the corner of Division Street. Superstructure work is now underway through the end of 2011.
At 19 Park Place, between Broadway and Church Street, construction of a 26-story luxury condominium tower is slated to begin as soon as mid-December. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects, the building is uniquely narrow at just 25-feet wide, with 25 total units.
Further north in Tribeca, the addition of four stories to the two-story 95 West Broadway building will begin in January. The addition, at the southeast corner of Reade and West Broadway, is part of the larger renovation for the seven-story Cosmopolitan Hotel, which was built in 1850 and once hosted Abraham Lincoln.
Meanwhile, plans for a new 16-story hotel at 49 Ann Street are expected to be released soon, with construction likely to being in early 2011. Demolition of the existing structure is now active through the end of the year.
