The annual holiday construction embargo begins mid-November

The city's annual holiday construction embargo begins on Monday, November 19th at 6 a.m., when projects will suspend or minimize operations to help pedestrian and vehicular traffic flow through the holiday season. During the embargo, the city Department of Transportation (DOT) voids all construction permits -- though certain construction project managers are issued waivers enabling work to continue, some with reduced work zones and other revised stipulations. The 2012 embargo also includes "black Friday" on November 16th from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

The embargo officially ends on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. Specific streets affected by the embargo are listed on the DOT website here.
