Hudson Street Traffic Pattern Shift

This traffic pattern is expected to be in place approximately eight months
This traffic pattern is expected to be in place approximately eight months

This month, city Department of Design and Construction crews relocated the maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT) configuration on Hudson Street between Franklin and Laight Streets. Part of the Hudson Street Trunk Main project, the work area is now located in the two western lanes of Hudson Street, with two northbound traffic lanes maintained.

As part of the MPT trucks, buses, and trailers will not be permitted on Hubert Street (between Greenwich and Hudson), as they will not have sufficient clearance to turn from eastbound Hubert onto northbound Hudson. Additionally, motorists exiting the Holland Tunnel via Exit 2 (Ericsson Place/Beach Street) must be in the center lane to turn left on Laight from Hudson; the east lane of Hudson is for through traffic only. This traffic pattern is expected to be in place approximately eight months, through May 2012.

Questions about the project can be addressed to the project’s Community Liaison Jamie Corssen at (212) 226-1380 or hudsonstprojectccl@gmail.com.
