John Street Closures for Utility Work

180 Broadway is one of several projects requiring John Street closures
180 Broadway is one of several projects requiring John Street closures

For approximately two weeks, John Street will be closed to vehicles between Broadway and Nassau Street for work on several projects.

A full roadway closure is planned for a three-day period, August 27th, 28th and 29th, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., for 180 Broadway crews to fill an abandoned sidewalk vault outside the construction site. The operation requires three days of concrete placement, and has been coordinated with work on nearby projects at the MTAs Corbin Building, 24 John Street, and the citys Nassau Street reconstruction project. Vehicular traffic will be restricted, but pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Starting the same week, on Wednesday, August 29th, Con Edison will close John Street to install new utility services for both 180 Broadway and 12 John Street. The work requires full road closures for approximately 10 days to complete the operations.

Additional John Street intermittent closures are expected in September, as 24 John Street steel lifts continue. Exact details are posted as they are announced.
