Modifications to the Liberty Street walkway is taking place on the south side of the World Trade Center site, as Port Authority crews continue excavating the South Bathtub. The walkway is being reconfigured to make space for the agency’s slurry wall installation and soil removal, part of the preparations for future Vehicular Security Center construction. The bathtub work also necessitates the reconfiguration of the Liberty Street Pedestrian Bridge, now planned to start in early October through January 2010, which will relocate the west bridge access to Cedar Street.
