The route terminates at the newly rebuilt South Ferry terminal and bus loop
|
This week brought the first rides for passengers on the new M15 Select Bus Service route, which terminates at the newly rebuilt South Ferry terminal and bus loop. The new transit service aims to speed bus transit using pre-paid tickets bought at machines installed at express stops along the route. The SBS M15 line replaces the M15 Limited, and continues to make stops at almost all of the same locations using the new bus-only lanes, with traffic-signal priority, on First Avenue (northbound) and Second Avenue (southbound).
At each of the five SBS stations south of Canal Street, riders can use cash or MetroCards to pay for a SBS ticket at new ticket machines. They can then enter the bus through the front or rear doors; inspectors will periodically check for valid tickets aboard the bus. The buses themselves are also part of a new fleet, painted light blue and made easier to see with lights on top.
The new M15 Select service operates daily:
Monday to Friday 5:40 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., northbound
4:50 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., southbound
Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., northbound
7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., southbound
