This weekend, treat your mom to something more than just a card for Mother's Day -- spend some quality time with her.  Whether you take a stroll through the Tribeca Family Festival or a cruise down the Hudson River, these downtown events and activities provide an ideal way to create Mother's Day memories to last a lifetime.

SATURDAY, MAY 10

Give the Salts of the Sea
South Street Seaport Museum on the Peking, Pier 16
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
After learning about the pure qualities of sea salt from scientist Lisa Austin, design your own sea-inspired sachet or container to fill with scented bath salts for a memorable Mother's Day gift. Admission is $5. For more information, call (212) 748-8758.

Hats Off to Mom
Boys and Girls Republic, 888 East 6th Street
1:30 to 2:30 pm
This luncheon will honor mothers whose children participate in the Boys and Girls Republic After School Respite Program, which offers after school and evening educational and social development programs to children with special needs. For more information, call Nurie Pinto at (212) 686-8888.

Mother's Day of Pampering
Community Consultation Center (CCC), 40 Montgomery Street
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The CCC will hold its annual Mother's Day of Pampering for women living with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers will provide luxurious beauty treatments, as well as acupuncture and Reiki, a form of healing.  There also will be games for children and a live performance by Abrons Arts Center dancers.  To learn more, contact Lela Charney at (212) 233-5032.

Tribeca Family Festival

Spend the day with your mom at the second annual Tribeca Family Festival's outdoor street fair, where you will find food and special performances for the entire family.

SUNDAY, MAY 11

Annual Mother's Day Multi-Ethnic Eating Tour
Big Onion Walking Tours, meet in front of the Olympic Restaurant (corner of Essex & Delancey Streets)
1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
This walking tour -- "from Naples to Bialystock to Beijing"-- features the historic and gastronomic favorites of the Jewish East Side, Chinatown, and Little Italy. Merchant's House Museum

Seatings at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Celebrate Mother's Day with a traditional afternoon tea -- including buttermilk scones with clotted cream and jam and pots of brewed English tea -- in the museum's lush nineteenth-century garden. Mother's Day Celebration

Good Companions Senior Center, 334 Madison Street

Staff from the Henry Street Settlement will join volunteers from New York Cares to honor the women of the Good Companions Senior Center with a special Mother's Day celebration. The afternoon will include entertainment, refreshments, and flowers for the senior women in attendance. For information, contact Rachel Sherrow at (212) 349-2770.

Mother's Day Concert

The Voices of Henry Street Choir -- along with special guests the Pace University Choir and music faculty member Clinton Ingram -- will celebrate motherhood with a program of classic and contemporary songs, including excerpts from Handel's Judas Maccabaeus. Mother's Day Event

Authors Erica Jong (Fear of Flying) and Molly Jong-Fast (Normal Girl: A Novel) talk about the ups and downs of being mother-daughter writers.  Mikveh, the all-star women's klezmer band, will play music that evokes the spirit of Jewish women. Mother's Day Cruises
Spirit of New York

Early Lunch: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Late Lunch: 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dinner: 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Take mom on this luxurious two-hour cruise, which travels south on the Hudson River for amazing views of Lower Manhattan.  The guest of honor will receive a rose, enjoy a live floorshow, and feast on a delicious buffet. For more information, call (212) 727-7735.
