Dykstra resigns from post as Foundation head
|
Gretchen Dykstra, president and CEO of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation (WTCMF), announced on May 26th that she is resigning from her post effective immediately. Joseph Daniels, WTCMF general counsel, has been named acting president.
"There is general agreement that the multiplicity of authorities makes it difficult for anyone to move expeditiously," Dykstra wrote in a letter of resignation to Thomas Johnson, chairman of the WTCMF executive committee. "Perhaps it would help if there were one less player," she continued.
Johnson accepted her resignation, stating, "It is regrettable to lose Gretchen. In her time with the Foundation, we raised more than $130 million towards building the Memorial and Museum and extensive plans have been made to build and operate them.
The WTCMF, a nonprofit organization established in 2005, is charged with raising funds for, building, and operating the Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center site.
