The center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

Last week the African Burial Ground National Monument became home to a new Visitor Center with exhibit spaces, store, and 40-person theater. The center is located on the first floor of the Ted Weiss Federal Building at 290 Broadway, at Duane Street. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (except on federal holidays). Visitors must go through the building’s security screening to enter, and the center is ADA compliant and includes an audio component for the sight and/or hearing impaired. The African Burial Ground, the first national monument dedicated to Africans of early New York and Americans of African descent, opened in October 2007.
