Road construction is underway for the New York Stock Exchange streetscape improvement project, and crews are now at work on underground utilities within the security zone, including installation of a new “turntable” barrier on Broad Street at Beaver. The new barrier will replace the existing sallyport and supporting vehicles.
As part of that work, on Saturday, June 21st, the city Department of Transportation will temporarily close Broad Street to through traffic between Beaver and Bridge Streets. It also will reverse New Street between Beaver and Broad Streets, making that block one-way northbound and the primary vehicle entrance to the district. The changes are expected to be in place through approximately late August. Construction access to two adjacent sites, 40 Broad Street and 45 Broad Street, will be maintained, and sidewalks will remain open.
During the project, parking on the north side of Beaver Street between Broad and New Streets will be removed to allow for vehicles entering the district to queue before they are screened. Broad Street between Beaver Street and Bridge/Pearl Street will be made one-way northbound to improve traffic movement.
