Tenement Museum offers visitors a slice of history
|
The Lower East Side Tenement Museum has been selected by NYC & Company as March's Cultural Institution of the Month, entitling visitors to $1 off the price of admission on tours of the Confino Family Apartment, as well as on all Spanish-language tours.
Located in a neighborhood that served as a gateway for much of New York City's immigrant population in the early 1900s, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum today gives visitors an opportunity to see for themselves what life was like for newly arrived immigrants. By mentioning the NYC & Company Cultural Institution of the Month Program, visitors to the museum can save on tours of the Confino Family Apartment, where a costumed interpreter playing Victoria Confino (circa 1916) will paint a picture of the immigrant experience and what adapting to America entailed for the newly arrived. Discounted tours are available for the month of March on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. Discounts are also available for the Spanish language tour, "Piecing It Together," on Saturdays at 4:45 p.m.
The Lower East Side Tenement Museum is located at 90 Orchard Street, between Broome and Delancey Streets. The museum is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To read more about the Tenement Museum and its exhibits, please click here.
