Traffic Lanes Shift on West Street

Traffic lanes will shift on West Street
Traffic lanes will shift on West Street

Starting this Friday, September 14th, the Port Authority will shift northbound traffic to the west on West Street (Route 9A). The revised traffic pattern allows crews to install secant walls for the new underground pedestrian concourse that will link the World Trade Center to Battery Park City's World Financial Center.

The schedule for northbound lane closures is as follows:

  • Two lanes closed Friday, September 14th, 11 p.m. to Saturday 11 a.m.
  • Single lane closed Saturday, September 15th, 11 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
  • Two lanes closed Sunday, September 16th, 12 to 11 a.m.
  • Single lane closed Sunday, September 16th, 11 to 5 a.m.

Motorists on northbound West Street are advised to use alternate routes over the weekend. The lane shift follows similar operations for southbound traffic last weekend.

This new traffic pattern is expected to be in place through summer 2008.
