Vesey Street Closure in BPC Starts August 9th

Workers pour concrete on Warren Street

On the morning of Saturday, August 9th, the Vesey Street roadway will be closed west of West Street (Route 9A) from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. The closure allows state Department of Transportation (SDOT) crews to shift southbound West Street onto the new permanent roadway between Chambers and Vesey Streets. Warren Street, which has been closed since June 26th, will reopen on August 9th by 5 a.m.

Also on August 9th, SDOT will close the left-turn lane from eastbound Vesey Street onto northbound West Street. Crews will perform utility and roadway reconstruction work at that intersection through approximately November 25th. During the closure, motorists can turn onto northbound West Street at Murray, Warren, or Chambers Street. Signs will be posted to help redirect traffic, and walkways and the Vesey Street pedestrian bridge will remain open.

These traffic changes are part of the West Street Promenade Segment 2 project, which is slated for completion in late 2009.
