West Broadway Sidewalk Grates Project Wraps Up

Only one grate remains to be installed
Only one grate remains to be installed

Installation of new ventilation grates on West Broadway concludes this week, with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority crews wrapping up the final segment of work between Thomas and Worth Streets. The project is part of the MTA’s flood-mitigation plan, for which sidewalk grates were raised six inches to help divert rainwater runoff from the 1/2/3 subway line in Tribeca. The stainless-steel grates also have built-in benches and bicycle racks.

Only one grate remains to be installed, on the east side of West Broadway between Worth and Leonard Streets. Work there is expected begin later this week, after the sidewalk shed is removed from the 185 West Broadway construction site. Crews should complete that grate installation by approximately April 17th.
