The project is scheduled to continue into 2014
|
To facilitate Brooklyn Bridge rehabilitation, the city Department of Transportation will begin closing all Manhattan-bound lanes overnight starting Monday, August 23rd. All westbound traffic will be detoured to the Manhattan Bridge during the closure hours. Brooklyn-bound traffic and pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained. Work will include repainting steel across the entire span to prevent corrosion, along with repairs to the ramps and approaches. The closures are expected to continue overnight through the end of the project in 2014.
Closure times are:
· Sundays to Fridays: 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
· Saturdays: 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m.
· Sundays: 12:01 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The project began in spring 2010, and includes concurrent work being performed on Ramp A and several other areas of the landmark East River crossing.
