The work is planned for the weekend of July 26 and 27
|
The city Department of Transportation (DOT) is performing major long-term maintenance and repair work on the Williamsburg Bridge. As part of this work, lane closures are in effect for several weekends this summer.
Both lanes of the Brooklyn-bound south outer roadway will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, July 26th and 27th, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. During this time the contractor will work on the main tower balconies, electroliers, and pedestrian stairs/platforms. To help keep traffic moving during the lane closures, Brooklyn-bound trucks will be re-routed to the Manhattan Bridge, where all lanes will be open.
The DOT will post additional traffic enforcement agents at the bridge, post signs in the area, and keep tow trucks standing by. The traffic will return to normal following the weekend work. For questions about this project contact the DOT’s community liaison Nicholas Johnson in the Williamsburg Bridge Field Office, (877) 945-5928.
