Steel erection for T4 will resume in early August
|
With coordination between the Port Authority and Silverstein Properties continuing, the east side of the World Trade Center (WTC) site is again an active construction site in all areas. Steel at Tower 4, on the south end of the East Bathtub, is up to the sixth floor and concrete is being poured for each of its decks. Masonry on its substructure also will begin soon, requiring a sub-grade hoist to be installed this summer. Steel erection for T4 will resume in early August.
Initial foundation work on Towers 2 and 3 also is ramping up starting with tower footings preparations and some early utility coordination. Construction will be increasingly visible through this summer, with extensive planning between the towers’ contractors (Tishman for T3 and Turner for T4) and the Port Authority for its WTC Transportation Hub -- which will occupy the block between them. Currently a large crane is at the Hub site, where it will be used to lift massive steel members into place, and crews have started concrete pours for its footings.
