WTC South Bathtub Excavation on Track

WTC south bathtub work is making progress
WTC south bathtub work is making progress

Since the reconfiguration of the Liberty Street pedestrian bridge in April, the Port Authority has made significant progress in the World Trade Center south bathtub/Vehicular Security Center. Crews have excavated 32,000 tons of soil -- more than half of the total to be removed before work can begin on the bedrock. The site is the future entry and security point for vehicles accessing the WTC. Other work at the south bathtub site includes dewatering, tieback installation, caisson removal along Cedar Street, and construction of a ramp onto West Street.
