The Museums of Lower Manhattan was made possible through a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and administered by the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC). Created in the aftermath of September 11, 2001 by Governor Pataki and then Mayor Giuliani, the LMDC's mission is to help plan and coordinate the rebuilding and revitalization of lower Manhattan.
