Using moving
first-person histories, the Museum
of Jewish Heritage -- A Living Memorial
to the Holocaust brings to life the
essence and beauty of the Jewish heritage
and spirit -- as it existed long before
the Holocaust, sustained itself during
this unspeakable tragedy, and emerged
even stronger after it. The Museum's
mission is to help visitors of every
age and background experience the
rich tapestry of Jewish life over
the past century, and feel the hope
Jewish people have for the future.
As you're
drawn from exhibit to exhibit through
this dramatic 112,000-square-foot
museum, you'll have a chance to
view 24 original documentaries,
thousands of fascinating artifacts,
personal photographs, documents,
and archival films that have been
gathered for nearly two decades.
The museum also offers musical and
theatrical performances depicting
Jewish life around the world, thought-provoking
lectures and spirited debates, rarely
seen films, and special events geared
for visitors of all ages, nationalities
and religions. Step out the back
door to the Battery Park waterfront,
and the view of Lady Liberty takes
on an even broader meaning.
